In The Waiting: The Divine Waiting Room
How does God ask us to WAIT?
James 5:7-8 (NIV) “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.”
Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” This verse highlights that waiting involves strength and courage, not just resignation. It is an active engagement with God’s promises, acknowledging that He is working even when we cannot see the results.
1. God Uses Waiting to Build Our Character
Romans 5:3 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
2. Waiting Prepares Us for Future Blessings
3. Waiting Equips Us for Future Trials
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
4. Waiting as an Expression of Faith
Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint”
5. Seeking God in All Things
Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
